Dieter Ungerboeck Obituary

Ungerboeck, Dieter K.

passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the age of 80 years.

Dieter lived out the American Dream with an enduring drive to provide love, safety, and security to his family. Born in Vienna, Austria, Dieter immigrated to the United States in his twenties. By chance, he ended up in St. Louis, Missouri, where he would meet his first wife, Catherine (nee Schlueter). Together they gave their love, guidance, and sense of family to their four sons, Krister (Tracie), Justin (Kara), Ryan (Maggie), and Daren (Angie). After Catherine's passing in 2014, Dieter was lucky again and found new love with his second wife, Margaret (Peggy).

Though he founded multiple successful businesses, Dieter relished his time as a grandfather while sharing his true passions of sailing and the water (and maybe a little ice cream, too) with Kaitlyn, Max, Joe, Xander, Catherine, Aidan, Addie, Theory, and Miley. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Georg, Gottfried, Brigitte, Angelika, Veronica, and Michael and his many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He joins in spirit his first wife, Catherine, and parents, Karl and Friederike Ungerboeck.

Dieter was the Co-Founder of global software company Ungerboeck Systems International in Dardenne Prairie, MO and Ozark Yacht Club in Lake Ozark, MO. He will be greatly missed by many.

Services: Visitation is Monday, August 22, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dardenne Presbyterian Church, 7400 S Outer Rd 364, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at Dardenne Presbyterian Church, 7400 S Outer Rd 364, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368. Interment; Our Lady Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Missouri Baptist Healthcare Foundation for cancer research. Services entrusted to Pitman Funeral Home.

My deepest sympathy to Krister, Justin, Ryan, Daren and the extended Ungerboeck family. I know Dieter is deeply missed.
Thank you Dieter for everything.
My life was greatly enhanced by your knowledge and friendship. You're a great guy. I have a lot of great memories working with you at USI. We sure enjoyed a lot of great food, stories and laughs together. I really enjoyed finding the treasures that fill the OYC houses.
I'll never forget when Lenora found the sailboat tables on the marketplace. She showed me, I bought them and even talked the sellers into delivering to them to USI on a Friday night. When you came in on Tuesday and saw them your eyes lit up. You loved them. Then I told you about my marketing vision for the tables at the Ship Shop store. You looked up at me and said you're brilliant. I was flabbergasted. I thought to myself did Dieter Ungerboeck just tell me I'm brilliant! Dieter that's the greatest compliment I've ever received in life. I'm glad I told you that too.
I remember the last time we talked. It was at Forest Park of all places. You, me and Peggy talked for an hour catching up on family. I'm grateful to have known you in life. May you rest in peace. I love you and Ungerboeck Software!

Our deepest sympathies go out to the entire extended Ungerboeck Family.
Dieter was so much fun to know - always an interesting story to hear when he'd chat with you. And I want to thank him for the opportunity to work for such an amazing organization - where his door was always open and he made you feel at home.
He will be missed very much.
