Dillard New, aged 73, of Marshes Siding, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
He was born on January 31, 1950 in Parkers Lake, Kentucky to Gaylon and Dovie (Martin) New. A loving husband and father, Dillard accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a young age and was a member of Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church. He found great pride in his career with the US Forest Service and enjoyed bringing laughter to the people around him with his playful sense of humor. Dillard had a passion for cooking for his family, attending dirt track races, and was an avid turkey hunter.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a beloved sister, Irene Stanton; and a special friend, Ralph Perry.
Dillard is survived by his wife Wanda "Wendy" (Gibson) New, whom he married on December 4, 1999; his son Dillard Alex New and wife Stacy of Berea, Kentucky; his daughters Mary Burchfield and husband Eddie of Winfield, Tennessee, Nancy Bartley and husband Eddie of Somerset, Kentucky, and Emily Woodcock and husband Daniel of Somerset, Kentucky; stepsons Randy Hacker and wife Sarah of Oneida,Tennessee and Rob Hacker of Destin, Florida; grandchildren Robyn, Ashley, Tre, Brittany, Skylynn, Eden,Toby, Zach, Gabe, Jacob, Emily, Jacklyn,and Olive; nine great grandchildren; a special great grandchild Alexis Chadwick; aunt Eloise Warner; special friends Tim Perry,Gary Tucker,and Jerry Myers; and sisters-in-law Bonnie,Betty,Cathy,Connie,Brenda, Pat, Sherry,and David.
The funeral services will be held at 8pm on Monday, January 29, 2024 at McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Woodcock and Bro. Jerry Myers officiating. The family will receive friends after 6pm on Monday at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery.
