Dima Stemkovsky, 82, passed away suddenly at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune on October 20, 2025. Born in Moscow, Russia to the late Michael and Khaya Stemkovsky, Dima immigrated to the United States with his family in 1981. He lived in Brookyln, Old Bridge, and Lakewood prior to moving to Manalapan four years ago.
An engineer by trade, he retired from the Hospital of Special Surgery in Manhattan as a Network Engineer, working daily on computers. Dima enjoyed a nice cigar and a good vodka, loved to watch sports and in his youth, he was an avid track and field sprinter. He could always be found tinkering around the house and fixing things but above all, he never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The last of his siblings, Dima leaves behind his loving wife of fifty-five years, Anna (Ostrovskaya) Stemkovsy and their two sons; Alex and Rhonda of Los Angeles, CA and Ilya and his wife Katie of Freehold. Dima will be missed dearly by his five grandchildren; Bryce, Brody, Cole, Sonya and Harlan. Dima and Anna loved to frequent operas and ballets at the Met in NYC. Nobody ever believed he actually liked any of it, but Dima hid a lovely singing voice, and Aida was his favorite of the operas.
Dima loved to drive Anna everywhere, and as her personal chauffeur of many years, always took pride in taking Anna on many great adventures, even if some of those were just to ShopRite. Dima and Anna loved to travel worldwide, and in their later years, preferred cruises. Dima loved sailing on great ships, and on their last cruise on the ship "Beyond," he told Anna the vessel "was beautiful, just like you."
Family and friends may join together at the Beth Shalom Chapels, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 2pm until 5pm.
