Dionisia Hernandez Obituary
was born in Brgy Salaban, San Jose Batangas, Philippines in 1922, 24 years
after the country declared her independence in 1898 from Spain and 24 years
before the United States in 1946 granted the country her second independence.
She was 21 years old when she married the late Gonzalo Hernandez who was 18
years old in 1943. Together, they raised 9 children, Ligaya Alday (Rodolfo), Nattie
Dilay (Arthur), Teresita Huang (Philip), Myrna Remo (Bernardo), Josephine Dilay
(Randy), Gil (Margie), Gonzalo Jr (Carol), Joselito (Nenita) and Grace. She &
Gonzalo immigrated in Chicago in 1976. Although, she would occasionally go
back to the Philippines, since her husband's death in 1989, she had stayed in the
Chicago area with her 8 children, & their families. Currently she has 14 grand
children & 14 great grand children.
