Disela A. Acevedo, 81, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of New York City, passed away on Friday afternoon, February 14, 2025 at her residence. Born in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Ramón Antonio Acevedo and Altagarcia Fernandez.
Disela was baptized in the Roman Catholic faith. Throughout her life, she possessed a strong Christian faith and prayer ministry. She was small in stature but fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She showed unconditional love to others in every situation, providing support and withholding judgment. Disela was always happy and expressed love to her family by constantly cooking their favorite foods.
In her early years, she was employed by the Dominican government preparing meals for people suffering from natural disasters and others in need. She was employed as a home health aide for Denelisse Corp. in New York City.
She is survived by a son in Virginia; two daughters, Rosanna, wife of the late Ruben Deoleo, and Katiuska I. Tejada, both of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and six siblings, Aura Fernandéz of PR, Juan, husband of Zoila Fernandéz of DR, Argentina Fernandéz of NY, Narciso, husband of Silvia Acevedo, of DR, Reyna Acevedo of DR, and José Acevedo of NY. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ramón E. "Chago" Acevedo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Iglesia Católica San Juan Bautista, 425 South Duke Street, Lancaster, PA. There will be no public viewing. Commendation and Final Fairwell will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster. To express a condolence with the family or for additional information, visit www.simplefuneralspa.com.
