Dixie Lee Bennett

Dixie Lee Bennett of Nimitz, WV passed away on March 3, 2026 at the age of 77.

Born on September 7, 1948 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Ethel Mae Adkins Gross.

Dixie was a dedicated caregiver, spending her career serving others as a food service worker at Summers ARH and as a compassionate home health aide. She was of the Baptist faith and deeply loved her family. Dixie liked to spend her spare time watching lawn care videos and found joy in nurturing her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, a passion that mirrored the care she gave to her patients and loved ones.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by five brothers, Ronnie Gross, Michael Gross, Jim Gross, Billy Gross, and Tommy Adkins; three sisters, Phyllis Manderschield, Pearley Angell, and Lola Jean Wills.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Timothy Yancey of Meadow Bridge, WV; daughters, Karen Sue Yancey of Meadow Bridge, WV and Haven Highlander of Nimitz, WV; brother, Jerry Gross of Big Island, VA; sisters, Shirley Cobaugh (Chuck) of Akron, OH, Jo Ann Burks of Big Island, VA, and Darlene Ludwig (David) of Fayetteville, WV; grandchildren, Amber Yancey of Nimitz, WV, Zoe Yancey of Spencer, WV; great grandson, Bentley Hannah of Fayette County.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating. Burial will follow at the Adkins Family Cemetery in Hinton, WV. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until the time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kasper Bennett, Mike Branham, Tim Yancey, Stan Highlander, Roger Hurley, and Nate Stover.
