Wanda Gay Sears

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Sears on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the age of 76.

Born on August 29, 1949 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Everette and Naomi Huff Yancey.

A passionate quilter, Wanda spent countless hours at her machine, stitching warmth and vibrant colors into blankets that will be treasured for generations. When she wasn't quilting, she was in her kitchen. In her spare time, she was always on the hunt for "treasures" at local yard sales.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Sears.

She is survived by her sister Flora Mae Richmond; sister-in-law, Cathy Mooney; children, Brenda (James) Whiteside and Steven (Michelle) Sears; grandchildren, Chris Adams, Jenny (Matthew) Waters, Jessie Sears, Cody Falls, and Jacob Whiteside; great granddaughters, Aubree Maurer, Suvie Whiteside, and Xena Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Upland Cemetery on Elk Knob Road in Hinton. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.

Our hearts will forever grieve this loss but rejoice in her eternal peace. All those who wish to join us and pay their last respects are cordially invited.
