Leon James Hamm, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 30, 2026.
Born on April 11, 1948 in Nimitz, WV, he was the son of the late Willie Judson Hamm and the late Emma Lorie Richard.
In 1972, Leon felt a calling to serve his country and joined the United States Army where he served until honorably discharged.
Over the course of his life, Leon was a master of many trades. He found joy in learning new skills and was always ready to start a new adventure. After accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1975, Leon allowed the lord to shape him into the man we remember today. He served on a number of mission trips and was always looking for a way to share the Gospel.
His most notable role of “Santa Leon” opened up a whole new ministry for him. Those who knew Leon will remember his selflessness and ability to see humor in everything, spreading joy and the love of Christ.
Leon is survived by son James “JP” and step-sons Jacob (Kathryn), Keith (Shannon), and Gregory (Erin); as well as eleven grandchildren.
Leon was preceded in death by his second wife, Robin and his first wife, Sharon.
A memorial service celebrating Leon’s life will be held on Sunday, February 22nd at 2:30pm at Faith Santee 9105 Old Number Six Hwy, Santee, SC. All family and friends are welcome!
