Richard Cassetta was born on October 4th, 1965 in Los Angeles, California. He passed away on January 26, 2026 in Charleston, South Carolina. Richard was 60 years old at the time of passing.
Richard was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and dear friend. He was known for his booming laugh, eternal optimism, and his willingness to lend a hand.
He was married to the love of his life, Maria Cassetta, for 31 years. They have two daughters, Sophie (28) and Claire (27).
Richard was a devoted family man. He loved and cared for his mother, Lupe, in California and Alabama.
Richard was a devout Catholic and very involved in his home parish, Prince of Peace in Hoover, AL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 8 years.
Richard served the community of El Monte, CA as a police officer for 24 years. He retired with the rank of lieutenant in 2016.
He spent his retirement traveling with Maria, playing pickleball everyday, volunteering at the church and working part-time at Trader Joe’s. No matter where he was, he was laughing loudly and making friends.
He is preceeded in death by his father, John Cassetta and brother, John Anthony Cassetta.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Cassetta: his daughters, Sophie Cassetta and Claire Lindner (Harrison); his mother, Guadalupe Cassetta; and his brother, Ray Cassetta (Jean).
Funeral services will be held on
Tuesday, February 10th at
Prince of Peace Catholic Church 4600 Preserve Parkway , Hoover, AL 35226
Visitation: 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass: 12:00 p.m. Reception: 1:00 p.m. in the parish hall
There will be a memorial service in Southern California at a later date.
