Dixie Lea Corrington, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in
Corsicana, Texas. Born on December 24, 1938, in
Quimby, Iowa, to William and Harriett McCaw, Dixie's life was a testament to the power of kindness and community.
Dixie's early years in Quimby set the foundation for a life filled with love and service. She grew up alongside her siblings Cindy, Jerry, and Jane, and their bonds remained a source of strength throughout her life. After marrying her beloved husband, Marvin Corrington, who preceded her in death, the couple was blessed with a loving family that would become Dixie's greatest joy.
As a mother to Matthew (and his wife Molly), Vance, and Michael, Dixie instilled values of compassion and faith. Her legacy continued to flourish through her grandchildren, Collin (Amelia), Amy (Edward), Michelle (Brian), Cody, Rachel, Elizabeth, Hannah (Bryce), Ambree (Ryan), Hunter, Wyatt, and Ava, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Each of them carried a piece of Dixie's heart and her teachings of love and kindness.
Dixie's career was marked by over 25 years of dedicated service as a manager at J.C. Penney's, followed by a decade at Russell Stover. Her natural leadership and ability to connect with people made her well-respected in the workplace. Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every challenge and triumph.
As an avid crocheter, Dixie's hands were rarely still as she crafted warmth and beauty for those she loved. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she often said they kept her going. Dixie's feisty spirit and people-oriented nature meant she never met a stranger, and her ability to strike up a conversation with anyone was legendary. A true Dallas Cowboys fan, she shared her passion for the game with friends and family alike.
Dixie's kind and loving nature, coupled with an unwavering faith, made her a cherished figure in her community. Her presence was a comfort and a joy to all who knew her, and her ability to love unconditionally will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Dixie's memory will be treasured by her sister Cindy McCaw, her faithful dog Sophie, and her vast extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her generous spirit.
Dixie Lea Corrington's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, faith, and genuine kindness. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us that the warmth of love never fades.
There will be a memorial service for Ms. Dixie Corrington in Bemidji, Minnesota in the Spring. Exact date and time will be announced at a later date.
