Dixie Lea Decker, 79, of Peru, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was born in Osceola, Iowa, on May 23, 1946, to Gerdon and Ruby (Peterson) Kirk.
On August 17, 1963, Dixie married Jerry Everett Decker in Lorimor, Iowa, and together they made their home in Peru, where they raised their family. Dixie was a proud graduate of East Union High School and worked as a homemaker before spending 19 years as a clerk at Montross Pharmacy. She was a lifelong resident of the Peru area and cherished her close-knit community.
Dixie loved her dogs and enjoyed shopping for clothes, jewelry, and shoes. She was an Elvis Presley fan and fondly remembered helping her father on the farm as a young girl. Her nurturing nature and love for her family defined her life. Dixie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Everett Decker; sons, Marty Decker (Tanya Snyder) and Matt (Brandy) Decker; sister, Vicki (Darrel) Mateer; grandchildren, McKenzie and Makayla Decker, and Thomas, Gage, and Harrison Snyder; as well as one great-grandchild, Jax.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Gerdon and Ruby Kirk; her son, Mike Decker; and her sister, Coleen (Donald) Williams.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Peru Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
