Dixie Charlene Shamley Hansen Fadness was born January 21, 1952, in Wolf Point, Montana to E.R. "Tuffy" and Delphia Unruh Shamley. Her first job was at the A&W at age 15 and later as a bus girl at the Elks Club. She married Lyle Hansen in June of 1970 and had three sons.
Dixie was active at Immaculate Conception Church having belonged to St. Ann's Group of the Catholic Daughters, being a leader for two years of the Renew Movement and lecturing the Epistles at Masses for 15 years. She held several different jobs, with the last nine years in Wolf Point as a secretary at Clayton Memorial Chapel. Having divorced in 1999, Dixie moved to Lewistown and worked as a bartender at The Sportsman's, Doc Hollidays and four years at the Eagles Club.
Dixie married Jamie Fadness on July 4, 2003 in Elko, Nevada. She had the honor and pleasure of accompanying Jamie on job related trips to several central, southern, and eastern states, but also to the Philippines and Brazil. They went on two cruises and spent quality time with family at their cabin in the Bitterroot Mountains near Hamilton, Montana.
Dixie was a hugger, she liked to make popcorn balls for her family, and collected outhouses as a reminder to be grateful to Our Lord for indoor plumbing. She thoroughly enjoyed spending special time with her three boys and their families, her sister and two brothers and their families and Jamie's family. A bad back, rheumatoid arthritis and other health issues slowed her down considerably. Dixie passed away on August 25, 2025.
She is survived by her husband, Jamie of Lewistown, MT; son, Loran (Jennie) Hansen and family of Huntley, MT; son, Troy Hansen and family of Malta, MT; and son, Del Ray (Stephanie) Hansen and family of Glasgow, MT; sister, Darla (Terry) Simmons, of Tacoma, WA; brothers, Jack Shamley of East Helena and Andy (Natalie) Shamley of Loveland, CO; stepson, Jeremy (Janet) Fadness and family of Helena, MT; and stepdaughter, Sandra Ann (Randy) Fadness Jelly and family of Gillette, WY; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Brian in 1995 at age 36 of pancreatic cancer, in Missoula, MT; and sister-in-law, Mary Shamley (Jack's wife) of pancreatic cancer, in East Helena, MT.
Funeral services and interment will be announced at a later date.
