Dixie L. McPeak, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Born on October 19, 1934, Dixie grew up as an Army brat, which instilled in her a lifelong love for travel and exploration. Her childhood was filled with adventure as she lived in various parts of the country, making memories that would last a lifetime. She carried this spirit of discovery with her throughout her life, eagerly venturing to new places and experiencing the world with a sense of curiosity and wonder. Although she valued all her travels, she had a deep adoration especially for the western states.
In 1954, Dixie joined Western Electric, where she worked until her retirement in 1986. For over three decades, she dedicated herself to her work, becoming a respected and valued member of the team. Her commitment to excellence was evident in everything she did.
In 1955, Dixie married the love of her life, Robert McPeak. Their 46 years of marriage were a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they shared many joyful moments, traveling the world, creating memories, and building a life filled with warmth, laughter, and mutual respect.
Dixie had a deep passion for crafting, a hobby she enjoyed throughout her life. Whether floral work, woodworking, or creating beautiful hand-made treasures, she poured love and creativity into every project. Her hands were always busy, and the love she put into her craft was felt by everyone who received one of her handmade gifts.
Dixie’s warmth, creativity, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Dixie was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Robert L. McPeak; her parents, Lawrence Smith and Eugene and Martha Corbin, and her siblings, Steve Corbin, Bob Corbin, Darlene Shepard, and Allan Smith.
She is survived by her loving children, Debi McPeak, Carol Adams (Roger), Randy McPeak (Penny), and Brenda Sandlin; her siblings, Patty Green and Larry Smith; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her sister in laws, Carolyn McPeak and Joann McPeak. She is also survived by many dear friends, family, and loved ones whose lives she touched with kindness and generosity.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 11AM-1PM at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. A funeral service will be held at 1PM. Dixie will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery next to her late husband, Robert.
