Dixie Lynn Parrish, age 77, of Edina, MO, passed away, January 23rd, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 3rd, 1948, and was the daughter of Lloyd (Donk) and Betty Hathaway. She was united in marriage to Vance Ray Parrish on October 18th, 1968, at the Christian Church in Greensburg, MO.
Surviving are her three children, Amee Jo (Randy) Shultz of Edina, MO, Angela Wilson of Edina, MO, Justin (Courtney) Parrish of Newark, MO, former daughter in law Betsy Fish of Ewing, MO. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Folkerts of Amarillo, TX, brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” (Sue) Parrish of Sedalia, MO, brother-in-law, Harold Barnes of Wright City, MO, and sister-in-law, Sheila Hathaway of Bellflower, MO. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren Kisha (Brandon) Lay, Deanna Rowland, Andrew (Taylar) Parrish, Chaise (Cortney) Stull, Austin (Yvette) Stull, Reid (Jazmyn) Stull, Alekah Wilson, Blake Parrish and fiancé Brianna Miller, Hannah Parrish and Parker Cook. She was also gifted 15 great grandchildren Kelsey Shultz, Lance Hudson, Barrett Maxwell, Dayton and Marshall Rowland, Bailey and Ryann Parrish, Payton, Naveah, Devron, Paxton and Maci Stull, Deacon and Otto Stull, River Parrish, 2 great-great grandchildren Kooper Joseph and Baby Boy Maxwell arriving in April, along with several nieces and nephews.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Parrish, parents, Lloyd “Donk” and Betty Hathaway, In laws, Ernest “Deacon” and Helen Arment Parrish, sister Linda Barnes, two brothers, Jack Hathaway and David Hathaway, one brother-in-law, James Folkerts, and two nephews Ty Parrish, and Greg Hathaway.
Dixie received her education at Baring Elementary and Knox County High School class of 1966. She then went on to college at Quincy Beauty Academy to obtain her cosmetology license. Upon graduation she put her cosmetology skills to good use in Edina for many years, she then started driving a bus for the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled, taking children from Knox County and Brashear to Kirksville, MO. She then worked for RCF for 15 years before retiring from Citizens Bank of Edina. She was a member of Bee Ridge United Methodist Church, she enjoyed cooking (for everyone), gardening, shopping, getting her hair and nails done - but most of all spending time with family and friends; Dixie had three very special friends, Patty Klocke, Carol Matlick, and Shirley Rohs. These ladies were the best friends Dixie could have ever asked for. They were really more like sisters and Dixie knew that they felt the same way about her.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday January 29th, 2026, in the Hudson Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO
Burial will be in the Bee Ridge Cemetery. Bev Peters life lifelong neighbor and family friend will officiate the services. Musical selections have been selected by the family with special tribute by Hannah Parrish.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Parrish, Chase Stull, Austin Stull, Reed Stull, Blake Parrish, and Dayton Rowland. Honorary pallbearers include all fifteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday January 28th, 2026 after 6:00 pm at the Hudson Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri, Knox County Nursing Home, or Bee Ridge Church Cemetery. Memorials may be mailed or left at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO, 63537.
