Dixie Hogge Sharp

Dixie Hogge Sharp, 81, of Hayes, Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. Dixie was born on October 19, 1943, and lived most of her life in Gloucester County. She was a registered nurse in the United States Navy for 3 years. She then worked for Riverside Regional Hospital and Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, where she retired as a nursing supervisor. Dixie was an active member of Severn Church and enjoyed participating in the Joyful Hands Ministry. She was known for baking, and one of her greatest pleasures was preparing food for others. She enjoyed family time, playing games, and traveling. She loved to crochet to pass the time while on the road; family and friends were the recipients of her colorful creations. Always ready to laugh, play a joke, or accept a joke played on her, she lived life with a smile. Parents Norman James and Margaret Bunting Hogge and sisters Dottie Hogge and Margaret Fountain preceded her in death. Dixie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert "Bob" Sharp; her daughter, Susan Sharp (James Bond), sons Barry Sharp and Jamie Sharp (Cindi); and grandchildren, Taylor Sharp, Tucker Sharp (Isabella Hudgins), Ryker Sharp, and brother Naseer Naheem (Tasneem).
The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the chapel at noon. The inurnment will be private. Severn Church in Naxera will host a fellowship after the service. Dixie's family requests memorial contributions be made to Helping the Homeless Ministry, Attn: Wendy Roundy-7028 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Gloucester, VA 23061, to support her love and greatest pleasure of helping others-services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
