Dixon Lane Smith, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Southgate, Michigan, at the age of 76. Born on December 9, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, Dixon lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.

Dixon's career was marked by his commitment to public service, where he served as the Deputy Director for the Department of Public Service/Water. His leadership and dedication were also evident in his role as President of AFSCME Local 1589 for the city of Southgate, where he worked to support his colleagues and community.

Beyond his professional life, Dixon had a zest for life that was infectious. He was an avid golfer and baseball enthusiast, and in his younger years, he was quite the bowler, getting a perfect score of 300. Known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, Dixon brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and was immensely proud of his daughters.

Dixon is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Michaela, and their three daughters: Roxanne (Piotr) Franckowski, Danielle Smith, and Teresa (Phil) Delisi. He leaves behind five adored grandchildren: Brycen, Luke, Lucy, Mia, and Lily, who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dixon's life at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM. A service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a burial at Michigan Memorial Park.
