Dogan Park Turer

Dogan Park Turer, aged 58, passed away on January 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, Mehmet Ozcan Turer, and his grandparents, Hugh Elmer and Verna Gore Martin of Baytown. Surviving him are his grieving mother, June Martin Turer, and his stepfather, R. Warren Foster of Baytown as well as his devoted fiancée, Cheryl Dawn Jett of Houston. Dogan was born in Ankara, Turkey and came to live in Baytown when he was six years old. He grew up in New Jersey across the Hudson River from New York City. He served in the U. S. Army and was once married and later divorced. He returned to live in Baytown in 1981 and became an HVAC and electrical technician. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in April, 2011 and underwent treatment at Memorial Hermann, M.D. Anderson, San Jacinto Methodist, and Kindred Hospitals. His courage and faith amazed everyone. Dogan (known by his friends as "Turk") will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 18, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Houston National Cemetery with burial to follow.
