Dola Jean Jackson, 85, of Florence, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. Born on March 22, 1940, in Hazard, KY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Andy and Orpha Tomlin.

A dedicated educator for 35 years, Dola began her career as a teacher and later served as a guidance counselor, where she touched countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and commitment to her students. After retiring, she continued her passion for teaching by spending four years educating inmates within the prison system, further exemplifying her dedication to helping others.

In addition to her professional work, Dola had a deep love for creative expression. She enjoyed writing stories, especially children's tales that would delight and inspire the younger members of her family. She also took great pride in publishing the monthly newsletter for her Senior Center, where she was an active member of the community.

A woman of many talents, Dola was an avid quilter, creating beautiful works of art that will be cherished by her loved ones for years to come. She also had a special bond with her dog, Chug, who was always by her side. But above all, Dola's greatest joy came from spending time with her family, and she will be remembered for her generosity, her love, and the positive impact she had on everyone she met.

Dola was preceded in death by her son, Byron Jackson, and her sisters Wanda Hall and Zola Tomlin. She is survived by her son, Andrew (Mila) Jackson; her daughter, Anna Phillips; her brother, Raymond Tomlin; her sisters, Nancy Schrock and Lovell McFadden; along with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Online condolences may be expressed on Facebook or at SerenityFuneralCare.com.

Dola's life was one of service, love, and compassion. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
