Dolores M. Dickenson, 92, of Centralia, formerly of Batavia Illinois, passed away on September 18th. She was born March 12, 1933, in Aurora. She was the daughter of Elmer and Lorna E. (nee Unglaub) Snyder. She was united in marriage to George H. Dickenson on September 3, 1949, at the former First Christian Church in Batavia IL.
Dolores worked at the former Batavia Herald and for Key-Line Printers of Geneva for many years. She worked for AGCO Parts Division of Batavia until her retirement in 1995.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 16. She was a former member of The First Baptist Church in Batavia, where she served on the Deaconate Board. She also taught Sunday school, worked in the nursery, and was a member and past president of the Tau Alphas. She was a volunteer at the Fox Valley Hospice. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a former member of the Batavia Bowling Women's League
Upon her move in 2006 to Centralia, Illinois, she joined the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an assistant Sunday school teacher. She also worked on the kitchen committee, visitation program, nursing home ministry, and assisted with vacation Bible school. She was an active member of the BCMW Centralia Senior Center and served as a former president, vice president, and treasurer.
Friends will remember her for her faith, persistence, strength, and her generosity.
She is survived by her son, David (Bonnie) Dickenson, of Centralia, IL; two daughters: Ruth (Terry) Bird of Rockford, and Mary (Joseph) Miller of Aurora; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George; sisters, Myrna Baker and Mary Berger, Beverly Snyder: three brothers Donald Baumez, Herman Baumez, Jr. and Kenneth Snyder; a great grandson, Ian Jacob Bird.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Moss Family Funeral Home; 209 S. Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL 60510. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at West Batavia Cemetery in Batavia, IL
Contributions in her memory may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Local arrangements were handled by the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, Illinois.
