Dolores Margaret "Dee" Humm

Dolores Margaret (Eisenbeil) Humm went to be with Jesus on November 4, 2025. Dolores (Dee) was born August 6, 1932 to David and Rose Eisenbeil in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She graduated from Benedictine Academy High School in 1949 and then attended night school at Cranford Junior College while working days as a secretary at Cranford Trust Company. After two years, she enrolled at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, earning a Bachelor's degree in English Literature with a minor in Spanish in 1954. Having met the love of her life, David Humm, in high school, they married in 1955 and drove across the country to California, settling first in Lafayette and later in Moraga, where they have lived since 1966. While raising seven children, Dee studied music and taught piano in her home. Later, she earned her teaching credential and went on to share her teaching gifts as a tutor and assistant at Miramonte High School in Orinda. Dee's faith was the foundation of her life. She loved God and served faithfully for decades at St. Monica Church and St. Mary's College through the Women's Guild and numerous parish and community events. A lifelong reader, Dee led her local Book Review Circle for years, preparing and presenting many thoughtful reviews. She and Dave shared countless adventures and laughs with their hiking group, the San Joaquin Walkers, and especially loved traveling, with France being a favorite destination. Dee kept her garden and home beautiful and welcoming. She loved a good party and found any reason to host one- planning every detail, cooking and baking for everyone, and insisting on a game or two. Dee had a tender heart for children and an outgoing nature that touched everyone she met. Her greatest joy, though, was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a gift for making family and friends feel special and loved. Dee's bright spirit, strong faith, and love for life blessed all who knew her. Dee is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, David Humm; children Laura Jamieson, Greg (Susan) Humm, Chris (Christina) Humm, Susan (Paul) Curry, Rita (Dave) Helseth, and Cathy (Ron) Midyett; daughter in-law Kathy Humm; twelve grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, David Eisenbeil, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son and grandson, Steven Humm and Bryan Humm, and by her dear sister, Gertrude Biazzo. Funeral mass will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church in Moraga.
