Dolores A. “Lola” Melendez, 75, passed away after unexpected health complications on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Goshen Hospital in Goshen.
Born on April 3, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas, Lola was one of ten children born to Gilbert and Bonificia “Bonnie” (Galindo) Antu.
She would marry Domingo Melendez Jr., welcome three children and make Milford her home. They would separate but remain friends. He would precede her in death in December of 2023.
Lola worked for 37 years for Smoker Craft Inc. until her retirement. She was an exceptional cook and tried her best to teach her family her recipes. She was very well known in Milford and the surround areas for “Lola’s Tamales”.
She had a big heart and was a devout Christian. More than anything, she loved being with her grandchildren and children. Lola would do anything for them. She loved BINGO, crossword scratch offs and played dice and 10,000 with her sister Minerva and family members.
Lola is dearly missed by her children: Joe (Susie) Melendez of Milford, Marisela (Chuck McCreary) Melendez of Leesburg and Domingo Melendez III of Milford: grandchildren: Robert “Robbie” II, Aaron, Eric, Joey, Stephanie, Madyson, Jacob and Lillian; great-grandchildren: Mason, A.J., Myles, Alex, Jade, Jordan, Jeremih, Zane, Grant, Lane, Elliana, Ximena, Aleida and Kaizen.
She is also survived by her sisters: Minerva Perales of Milford, Gilbert (Gloria) Antu of San Antonio, TX, David (Maria) Antu of Milford and Robert Antu of San Antonio, TX. She was blessed with and adored many nieces and nephews, especially those who lived near her in Milford.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Ruben Antu, Idalia Arriola, Eva Ramirez, Louis Antu and Jimmy “Gimbo” Antu.
