Dolores J. Resil, 83, of South Bend, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025. She was born on October 25, 1941, in South Bend, to the late John Jr. and Evelyn (Przybysz) Gapinski, and was a lifelong resident of the community she loved.

Dolores was married to Arthur J. Resil, Sr., with whom she shared 20 years of marriage before their divorce. He preceded her in death.

Dolores was a licensed cosmetologist and beautician. She owned and operated her own salon, Femme en Paris, for many years, and also shared her talents in area nursing homes and funeral homes. She loved the residents she served, always offering kindness and a listening ear. She considered it a special honor to be entrusted with preparing someone's hair one final time with dignity and care.

In addition to her work in cosmetology, Dolores spent several years as a ward secretary at the old St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend. Her intense interest in medicine and her strong desire to help people also led her to study to become a surgical nurse.

Dolores loved gardening, flowers, and the beauty of nature, which she considered God's gift to her. Whether admiring a bright blue sky, white clouds drifting by, or birds singing, she embraced the simple wonders of creation. She also loved classical music, which brought her peace and joy.

A woman of deep compassion, Dolores devoted countless hours to volunteering. Over the decades, she served with St. Mary's Convent, hospice facilities, St. Joseph Medical Center, and the Sisters of the Holy Cross Association Program, and worked in support of the canonization cause of Mother Rose Hawthorne.

Above all, Dolores treasured her family. She prayed daily for their health, happiness, and safety, and she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her Catholic faith was her anchor, and she had a lifelong devotion to St. Jude’s Thaddeus, to whom she prayed faithfully throughout her adult life for strength, comfort, and guidance.

Surviving are her two sons, Arthur Joseph and Joseph John (Janann); two grandchildren, Kyle and Noell; her sister, Lorraine Bergerson; nieces, Michele (Steve) Wolff and Lori (Andy) Jaworski; great-niece, Allison Wolff; and great-nephews, Christopher Wolff and Kevin Jaworski. She is also survived by her best friend and soulmate of 30 years, Russell Dailey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Sacred Heart Parish Center at Notre Dame, 100 Sacred Heart Parish Ctr, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the Mass at the Parish Center. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dolores's honor to St. Jude’s Thaddeus or to the charity of your choice.
