Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend

Dolores Faye Shaeffer, age 72, of Orient, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2025 surrounded by her family and precious kitties. She was born in Circleville, Ohio on June 15, 1953 to Clyde and Pat (Yaple) Karshner. She is survived by her three siblings: Keith (Faye) Karshner, Jeff (Amy) Karshner, and Luann (Dave) Petitt. Dolores was married to her devoted husband, Richard Shaeffer, for 50 wonderful years. She was the proud mother of Heather (John) Dean and Nick (Allison) Shaeffer, and a loving Mam Mam to “the girls”, Avery Dean (14) and Savannah Dean (11). You could always find Papa and Mam Mam at every sporting event, choir concert or school activity. She loved being a grandmother. A graduate of Westfall High School and a retiree of Nationwide Insurance Company, Dolores dedicated her life to her family and her community. She served as a 4-H advisor and volunteer in Pickaway County for 35 years, guiding the Monroe Clever Clover 4-H Club with passion and care. For 16 years, she worked tirelessly as the 4-H and Junior Fair Award coordinator and was honored as a recipient of the Friend of 4-H Award. Her commitment touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy. Beyond her service, Dolores loved exploring her family roots through genealogy, relaxing with jigsaw puzzles, and cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals. Forever loved, never forgotten. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at  Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11-1 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville.
