Lockport: Dolores J. Soemann, age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long illness on September 25, 2022. She was born February 26th, 1933 in North Tonawanda, NY to the late Irving and Irma (Plau) Stevener.
Dolores enjoyed sewing, was a volunteer for meals on wheels, and spent many years working on their Christmas tree farm in Belfast, NY with her husband and family. Dolores worked for Tops Friendly Markets for over 30 years before she retired. In her later years her and Walter wintered in the Villages, Florida, where she devoted some of her time to volunteering at the hospital and library. Dolores's family was the most important thing to her, she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Walter, her children, Elizabeth Soemann, Pamela (Steve) Kendzie, Barbara (Billy) Henderson, Gregory (Christy) Soemann, David Soemann, Robert Soemann, Janie (Alan) Scott, brothers, Richard (Betty) Stevener, Keith Stevener, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, grand-doggies, Hugene and Jaxon, also many nieces, nephews and cousins, preceded in death by her sister-in-law Donna Stevener and her granddaughter Amy Sue Tucker.
The family will receive friends at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY 14067 on Thursday, September 29th from 1:00-5:00pm where a time of sharing will be held at 5:00pm. Interment will be held privately at Hartland Central Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dolores's name may be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
