Dolores R. Wheaton, affectionately known as Ma by her children, passed away peacefully at her home in Windham, Pa, on February 18, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on October 10, 1935, in Sayre, Pa, Dolores was a woman whose life was defined by her unwavering strength, love for her family, and dedication to the land she tended.Following her graduation from Athens High School, Dolores embraced the life of a farmer, working alongside her beloved husband Walter G. Wheaton and their son Charles until their passings. Dolores's commitment to the family farm, a Century Farm started in 1873, did not waver as she continued the legacy with her daughter Beth, actively working until the age of 85. Dolores is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Faye and her husband Ron Cook, Beth Wheaton; her cherished grandchildren, Walter Cook, Jacob Cook, and Eliza Cook and her husband Kolyn Mott. Her sister Louise Polzella; sisters-in-law Harriett Gorsline and Sarah Tyrrell; and several nieces, nephews, and their families also survive. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter G. Wheaton, her son Charles Wheaton, and her siblings Almeda (Ed) Wilmarth, Rex Gorsline, Gerald Gorsline, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Michael Polzella, Adelle Wheaton, Charles "Buck" (Marjorie) Wheaton, Vernon Tyrrell, and Marion (Jack) Hutchinson. Dolores's life was a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of simplicity. She was the heart of her family, a source of boundless love and wisdom, whose memory will be cherished. We will gather for a private family graveside service in the Nichols Cemetery when the sun is shining and the birds are singing.
