Lorainne Mary Wheaton

Lorainne Mary "Lori" Wheaton, 87, of Windsor Locks, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital. Born on January 30, 1939, in LaGrange, Maine, the daughter of the late Bliss Lenox and Esther Grance (Bishop) Wheaton. Lori received her teaching degree from the former New Britian School of Teaching (CCSU.)

Lori had a long and successful career as an elementary school teacher at St. Mary's Catholic School in Windsor Locks prior to it closing. Following her time at St. Mary's she was a teacher in Windsor Locks Public Schools for thirty-four years prior to retirement.

Lori was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Marys Church in Windsor Locks, where she taught CCD and was in the choir. Lori was also a longtime Girl Scout Leader and camp counselor. Lori was very proud of her Native American Heritage, a part of the Penobscot tribe, a naturalist and loved nature. She also loved art and painting. She was also a foster parent. She participated in the fresh air program, which allowed an underprivileged youth from Hartford to spend the summer with Lori and her son BobRoy. Lori loved her granddaughter and enjoyed being a "Grammy".

Lori is survived by her son, BobRoy and his wife Lea of Windsor Locks with whom she resided and was well cared for by, her beloved granddaughter, Skyla, her nephew, Raymond Wheaton of Enfield and her niece Carmel Kerrigan of Norwood Massachusetts.

Lori was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Robert Wheaton and her beloved Pekingese dogs Princess and Daisy.

Lori's family will receive friends on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, from 9:00AM to 10:15AM at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT 06095. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM at Mary Gate of Heaven Parish – St. Mary's Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 233 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096. Memorial donations in Lori's memory may be made to Gate of Heaven Parish – St. Mary's Church 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
