DOLORES KATHERINE YVARS

Dolores Yvars, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on January 9, 2024.
Born in Brooklyn NY on December 16, 1938, to the late Joseph and Margherita Schiraldi, she was educated at Marymount High School and Manhattanville College. She lived a very full life with love and devotion to her family.
Dolores was married to Dr Alexander Manuel Yvars (deceased January 17, 2019), Their wedding took place on April 8, 1961, at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. Dolores and Alex moved to Johnstown in the early 1970's where he established his medical practice, and they raised their family.
Career achievements include Cancer Lab research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, followed by Lab Director in Ellenville Hospital. In addition to managing Alex's medical practice, Dolores was a self-employed interior design contractor. She enjoyed renovating the family homes in Johnstown and Mayfield, along with many other homes and places of business in Fulton County. She was known for her charm and elegance. Dolores enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, playing bridge, tennis, golf, skiing, and sailing. She loved to cook and entertain. Dolores made sure that all her nieces and nephews learned to ski at Royal Mountain and hosted many family reunions. She was an active member of the John Burroughs Nature Study Club, Aldines, and the Clio Study Club. She continued her education as a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal Editorial section and technology connoisseur.
Dolores' greatest love was family. In addition to her sister Rosemary Camas of
Scarsdale, NY, her brother Leonard (Michele) Schiraldi of
Vero Beach, Fl., and her brother-in-law Dr. Manuel (Judy) Yvars of Pittsfield, Ma., she is survived by her children: Alexander (Catherine Luey) Yvars, Celia (Paul) VanDenburgh, and Marguerite Duplessis; her grandchildren: Alexander Collin (Claire Tennis) Yvars, Christopher (Emilie Romano, fiance) Yvars, Katherine (Evan) VanDenburgh-Rugen, Elizabeth (Nolan) Reese, Peter (Julia Behar, fiance) VanDenburgh, and Gabrielle Duplessis; great grandson: Alexander Landon Yvars and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care given by Dolores' angels, Debbie, Naomi, Deborah, and Amy.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe Street
Johnstown, NY 12095.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling period at 11:00 AM with Fr. Matt Wetsel presiding.
Interment will be held in the spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery,
Johnstown, NY.
