Doloris Marie Roussell Bovie
September 24, 1939 - September 21, 2024
A life that has been lived to its fullest. Doloris Marie Roussell Bovie entered into this earthly life on September 24,1939 and departed to her eternal home on September 21, 2024, to be reunited with her loved ones that have gone on before her. Although Edgard was her temporal home for her life here on earth, I can imagine her saying right now this is my forever home.
She was born to the late Edward and Myrtle Roussell in Edgard, LA. She was the second of four children born into this family. Doloris was united in holy matrimony to the late Lance Anthony Bovie and to this union were 5 children: Monica, Denise (Frank), the late Terrance Anthony, Desiree (Dylan), and Chisaraha.
Doloris, who was affectionately known as Doe, was baptized under the late Rev Joseph Johnson, Jr. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. She put her faith and trust in God, never letting go of His hands. She knew that trusting God meant being at peace with God through Jesus Christ. She was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Hahnville, LA under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Troy D. Smith, Sr. Doe was an inspiration to so many with just a friendly word or smile. She had a way of making you feel that no matter what you were going through, everything would be alright.
As a local entrepreneur, Doe ran a business alongside her parents. She never met a stranger and once you were in her presence, you would be laughing like you had known her for a long time. She could relate to the young as well as the old and that was a special gift that she had. Doe enjoyed cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family. In her pastime, she liked going to the casino, watching her favorite shows the Westerns, Law and Order, and I Love Raymond. Of all those things, nothing topped spending time with her grandkids. She also loved to travel, listening to music, especially the blues, and you could always find her reading her Bible.
Doloris was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Myrtle Roussell, her son Terrance Anthony Bovie, her maternal grandparents Felecien August and Veleda Dinvaut August Jasmine, paternal grandparents Joseph and Florence Roussell, her siblings Raymond Roussell, Larry Roussell, Sr., and Jane Roussell, and her nephew Larry Roussell, Jr.
She also leaves a legacy of love and treasured memories to her children Monica, Denise (Frank), Desiree (Dylan), and Chisaraha, her grandkids; Terri, Marlon, Chelsea, Tyson, and Dailyn, 11 great grandkids, 2 great great grandkids, 2 sister-in-laws; Francis Bovie and Cora Carter, a devoted friend Barbara Isaac, 2 Godchildren Reggie Phillips and Shelita Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Though she is no longer with us, her impact will echo in the lives she touched, her spirit forever entwined with those who carry her love forward. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her strength, kindness, and wisdom will forever be our compass as we navigate life without her.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at True Vine Missionary Baptist, 320 Courthouse Ln, Hahnville, LA 70057.
