Domenic Frank Marcantonio, of Leominster, Mass., passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the age of 80.
Mickey was never a big-wig at one of his many factory jobs in his life. He never started his own business. He never had an abundance of money. Don't ask about his retirement accounts. He never fully owned a house, and he never got the Cadillac he always dreamed of.
His life was not about work and stuff.
What Mickey had, cultivated, and treasured was family and friends. He chose the better thing. He was always fully present and available for those closest in his life.
He was the guy who literally made the phrase "mama mia" famous to anyone within ear shot. He was the guy who was the first to laugh at his own jokes even when they weren't funny. You laughed because he laughed. He was the guy who always added a bit of excitement (or exaggeration) to a story.
He was a typical Italian – short and round – and loved a good pair of leather gloves to wear behind the wheel. He never met an Italian dish he didn't love. His stature, personality, and accent always led to a mysterious undertone where little kids in the family could've sworn he was in the mafia. As the kids grew up, they realized – no, Mick was just a great storyteller.
He had this thing about him, something far deeper than his own self, where he had the ability to include everyone. He had the God-given nature where everyone had a seat at his table. There were no outsiders (luckily, he never encountered a Jets fan). Everyone was brought into the conversation, laughs... and many jokes.
He was the guy who picked on you because he loved you. His wife babysat several children throughout the years, and he treated them each with kindness (the ones with special needs like royalty). He was the guy who never closed his door, even when the older neighbors wanted to come over at 10 PM. He made kids feel like kings; he related so much to them. He loved to make the "old ladies" laugh – many who were widowed and alone.
Mickey was light - light filled with childlikeness – in the best way possible. He filled rooms with love, inclusion, and laughter. Simply by being in his presence, you felt relief. You felt happy.
He never talked down, or complained, about his family – although he did spend a lot of time harboring road rage and frustrations about the New England Patriots (more recently, obviously). Hey, he wasn't perfect!
A few years ago, Mickey became awakened to the LORD who was with him from the beginning. In a church service, Mickey heard God's voice and responded to it. His tender heart met the tender heart of the Father. He is fully healed and restored now.
Mickey loved his wife deeply and loved her well. A man of incredible integrity, he stayed profoundly in love with his wife. She was genuinely his best friend.
Those left to cherish Mickey's wonderful memory are his wife of 58 years, Agnes Marcantonio; his two children, David Marcantonio and his wife, Leslie, and Lori Marcantonio; his two grandchildren, Matt, and his wife, Kayla, and A.J.; and his three great grandchildren, Madison, Levi Domenic, and May.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Agnes Marcantonio and sister, Joyce. He is survived by two siblings; Frank, and his wife, Cheryl Marcantonio and Sandie, and her husband, Rod Buxton.
"There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor." – Charles Dickens
"A joyful, cheerful heart brings healing to both body and soul." – Proverbs 17:22 (TPT)
