Dominic Constantine

1923 - 2023

Dominic Constantine, 100, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023. He was born Jan. 27, 1923, in the Ludwick section of Greensburg, a son of the late Nicolo and Maria (Siarrettia) Constantine. Dom was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church and the Teamster's Union, Local #30. In his younger years, he was a member of the Young Voters Club. Dom was a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees and had wrestled for Greensburg High School for the 103# weight division. He proudly served in the Army during World War II from 1943-46 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was an undefeated boxer for the Army team. He was a retired freight handler for the former Carolina Freight, South Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and patient wife, Alma L. Sebold Constantine; granddaughter, Samantha Avampato; and brother, Andy Constantine. He is survived by his two stepsons, Samuel Avampato (Karen), of Hunker, and David Avampato (Kirstie Stoner), of Hamden, Conn.; granddaughter, Sarah Avampato; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special caregiver, Lucy. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Dominic from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Prayers of transfer will be said at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1 p.m. in the Our Lady of Grace Church. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
