Dominic Michael Mitchell departed this life on March 1, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Dominic, affectionately known as "Nick", was born on January 14, 1973, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. As a young child, he moved to California with his mother, Carol Mitchell, where he spent his early years. He later returned to Lake Charles as a preteen, where he was lovingly raised by Byron and Marilyn Lawson alongside his brother, Brandon.
Nick attended Lake Charles Boston High School, where he proudly played football for the LCB Cougars, earning recognition and making headlines for his talent on the field. His passion for the game never faded, and he remained a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys throughout his life.
Nick was a visionary with an entrepreneurial spirit, always chasing new ideas and opportunities. Over the years, he pursued numerous ventures, including Music World Records and Hidden Treasures, but his greatest passion was in promoting. With his natural charisma and love for music, he played a key role in bringing local and touring artists to Lake Charles and the surrounding areas, creating unforgettable experiences for many. His gift of conversation, infectious energy, and ability to connect with people made him the life of any gathering, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Above all, Nick was a devoted husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend who treasured his loved ones. He found joy in bringing people together, and his final moments were spent surrounded by the love and laughter of some of those he held dear.
Dominic was preceded in death by his beloved son, Javien Bilbo; his mother, Carol Mitchell; his fathers, Byron Lawson, and Michael Gray; his father-in-law, Kirk Dugas Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Gloria and Fredrick Mitchell; and his paternal grandparents, Amy and Napolean Lawson.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Florence Dugas Mitchell; his loving children: daughters, Jazlyn Mitchell, Jillian Dugas, and Janna Roach; sons, Jaylyn Dugas and Jaren Dugas; his brothers, Brandon Lawson, Louis Franklin, and Brian Davis; his sisters, April Aylii and Alissa Simmons (Duwinn); his sister-in-law, Dawanna Dugas; his brothers-in-law, Delrick Dugas (Shawneequa) and Kirk Dugas Jr. (Janine); mother-figure, Katie Antoine; his cherished grandchildren, Jasiah, Princeton, Kayson, Aubrey, JaKailyn, Kylie, Blaise, and Aydyn; his godchild, Delrick Dugas Jr., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
Nick's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy of love, laughter, and bringing people together will never be forgotten.
