Donald Allen Bercher Sr., fondly known as "Don", 81, of Needville, Texas passed away on February 21, 2024 in Sugar Land. He was born on August 2, 1942, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Paul John Bercher and Evelyn Taylor Bercher.
He loved the outdoors whether he was hunting at the family ranch in South Texas, fishing, or tending to his cattle. He also had a soft spot for animals. Over the years he rescued many dogs and cats and showered them with love and care. Don was a Life Member of the Fort Bend County Fair Association and the Houston Livestock Shows and Rodeo.
Don was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. He was instrumental in assisting with the Building Committee and the Finance Committee. He was also a Knight of Columbus, Council #7087.
Don was the Owner of Bercher Tire & Service Centers in Rosenberg and Stafford. He served the community and developed many relationships with his 50 + years of being a local business owner.
This loving husband, father, Poppie, brother, uncle and friend will truly be missed.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Gail Wood Bercher; daughter, Laura Buell; son, Don Bercher Jr. and wife, Tonja; siblings, Dr. Richard Bercher and wife, Sue, David Bercher, Lisa Morris and husband, Will and Dr. Danny Bercher and wife, Anita.
Don's Legacy will live on through his grandchildren, Garrett Buffington and wife, Kayla, Brandi Rhodes and husband, Jamie, Hunter Buell (Raven Contreras), Camianne Rolf and husband, Korbyn, Corey Bercher and wife, Jessica, and Dylan Bercher.
Great Grandchildren include Ella & Lola Buffington, Lance, Laylin & Luke Rhodes and Emberly Buell.
Don is also survived by extended family, Michael Malinak and wife, Mattie, and Debbie Cromer and husband, Chris; and close family friends, John Kennedy and wife, Karen and Les Miller and wife, Vicki.
Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Needville, Texas.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 also at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Needville with Fr. Marty Pham officiating. Burial to follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Needville, Texas.
For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, PO Box 95, Needville, Texas 77461.
