Don William Beste, 84, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed January 2, 2025 at Marquette Health Care Center in Indianapolis, IN. He was born September 30, 1940 in Evansville, IN to the late Edward and Mary (Ashworth) Beste.
Don was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed taking rides with his buddies to look at the fields. In 1987, Don received the Conservation Farmer of the Year award. He was a 10-year member of the Posey County Fair Board where he was very involved in the Posey County Fair throughout his kids' years in 4-H. Don was also a member of the Mt. Vernon Conservation Club and attended Pointe Township Church of the Nazarene. He was always ready to play a game of cards. Don enjoyed pulling his grandkids in the wagon while driving his little Oliver tractor.
He was preceded in death by wife of 56 years, Donna.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Presley (Scott) and Becky Sundeen (Matt); son, Scott Beste; grandchildren, Emma, Hank and Will Presley, Oliver Sundeen, Mark and Ben Beste; brother, Edward C. Beste (Anna).
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Bryan Thompson officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Vernon Conservation Club, P.O. Box 985, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 or the Marquette Manor, 8140 Township Line Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46260.
