Richard Rex Higgins, II, 70, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away, August 17, 2025. He was born April 24, 1955 in Evansville, IN to Richard Rex and Mary (Harmon) Higgins.

Dick graduated in 1973 from North Posey High School and retired in 2014 from General Electric/SABIC after 36 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a true "foodie" who loved eating out. Dick was an avid follower of all things sports.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Kimberly Higgins and his parents.

Dick is survived by his children, Amanda Sills (Cory), Zack and Eric Higgins; grandchildren, Addison and Ella Sills; sister, Deborah Mauck; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Beverly Cross; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Angie Cross; nieces and nephews, Dana Elpers (Danny), Doug Mauck (Misty), Hannah White (Aric) and Derek Cross; and great-nieces and nephews, Koen White, Josh Elpers (Paige), Kaleb Elpers, Makenna Elpers and Maya Mauck.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Curt Mort officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chemo Buddies, 3700 Bellemeade Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
