Don Warren Brown

Don Warren Brown, age 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, Ann, and chosen family, Stephanie and Maxx by his side on April 5, 2025.

Born on July 18, 1945, in Coldwater Kansas, to Joseph and Neva Brown, Don made an unforgettable entrance into the world, arriving a little early and delivered by his grandmother, Helen King, a nurse and mid-wife on the dining room table. From that moment on, he was determined to make the most of every second, accomplishing and achieving more than most could in a lifetime.

After graduating from Coldwater High School in 1963, Don proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Giessen, Germany. During his time abroad, he worked on hawk missiles and played football for the Army base team – combining his love for both mechanics and athletics.

Upon returning home from Germany, he began his career in the automotive industry in Michigan. He later moved to Blue Springs, Missouri, and met the love of his life, Ann Wilt. They were married August 1, 1981 and shared almost 44 years of wedded bliss.

Don was a man of many talents and interests. He had a special relationship with his father-in-law, Bill Wilt, who, together, spent hours developing and enjoying a small and personal wildlife refuge near Brookfield, MO. Don never turned down a good dance, was remarkably handy around the house, enjoyed hunting and fishing, socializing with friends and family, and always carried a deep and abiding love for his country. A proud patriot, a loving husband, and a friend to many – Don lived his life with integrity, heart, and a strong sense of purpose.

He is survived by his beloved wife Ann, brother Joe (Marietta) El Dorado, KS, brother Mike (Kathie) Meade, KS; sister Judy Gregg (Dean) Guthrie, OK: and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss his strength, his humor, and his generous spirit. Don was also blessed to have had the love and care of Stephanie and Maxx Houchins, who are such a special part of Don and Ann’s chosen family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care at 9001 State Line Road, #300, Kansas City, MO 64114 or to Chiefs Theater, Box 514, Coldwater, KS 67029.

Services will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery Lakeside Chapel (Kansas City, MO) on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1pm.
