Rex Steven Majors, 73, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on the morning of February 26, 2026, with his eldest son by his side.

Rex was born May 1, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, to James Earl Majors and Rosa Geneva (Deatherage) Majors. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1970, where he excelled in both baseball and basketball. After graduation, Rex explored opportunities to continue playing baseball, and his love of sports remained with him throughout his life.

During the Vietnam War, Rex volunteered for service in the United States Air Force. He served in several overseas assignments, including Southeast Asia, Guam, and Germany. He reenlisted and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, where he took on leadership responsibilities that included training new recruits.

After returning to civilian life, Rex began a career with Braniff Airlines. He later earned a degree from Maple Woods Community College and went on to a long career as a technician with the U.S. National Weather Service, where he maintained and repaired specialized instrumentation essential to forecasting the nation’s weather. He retired in 2022, concluding 40 years of service to his country in both military and civilian roles.

Rex was also a dedicated baseball and basketball coach, where he shared his love of sports with young players and took pride in mentoring and encouraging them.

In 1998, he married Jessica Jo Majors, and their marriage was marked by love and companionship. He was devoted to her throughout their years together until her passing in 2017.

He is survived by his sons, James Keith Majors and Steven Michael Majors; his sister Jamie; stepchildren and step-grandchildren; and his Pomeranian, Nugget, who was his constant companion for the past decade.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, wife, brother Rocky, and several beloved dogs who brought him joy throughout his life.

Rex was a devoted father who took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of his sons, and his presence will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rex Majors to the Little League Baseball and Softball Foundation, honoring his love of youth baseball and his commitment to helping young people grow in character, teamwork, and confidence through the game: https://www.littleleague.org/who-we-are/making-a-donation
