Don E. Chamness, 71 of Danville, passed away on January 31, 2026. He was born on April 09, 1954 in Indianapolis to the late Nancy Faye (Chamness) and Edward Boone. After the death of his parents, he was adopted and raised by his grandparents, the late Helen (Jackson-White) and Josephus Chamness. He graduated from Danville High School in 1972. Don married Jenny Anne (Williams) on November 1, 1987 and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2025.

Don worked for the Department of Corrections in Plainfield from 1987 until now. He served in many different capacities but most years were spent as a Correctional Officer. When not at work he was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, riding his motorcycle constantly and participating in the Miracle Ride for Riley Children’s Foundation for several years. He was a member of ABATE and the H.O.G. chapter.

Survivors include his children, Jessica Larrison (Mike), Heather Chamness, both of Avon, Danean Childress, David Threet; sister, Jane Pevler of Danville; grandchildren, Jodicee Smith, McKenzi Albrecht, Karmen Ison, Brooklyn Rivers, Addyson Larrison, Jerzi Montgomery, Amirrah Chamness, Savvy Lopez; and one great grandchild, Dallas Sich.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, February 05, 2026 in the Danville Christian Church with Pastor Venessa Harmel officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until the service time in the church. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Foundation P. O. Box 3356 Indianapolis, IN 46206-3356.
