Don Coe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountain View Mortuary - Reno on Feb. 23, 2026.
Donald Ernest Coe passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2021. He was born on May 9, 1945 in Hawthorne, California to Russel H Coe and Cloda L. Hare. He was 80 years old.

Don graduated from Lennox High School in 1962 and joined the Air Force. Recognizing his acute attention to detail, they sent him to survival equipment training and assigned him the duty of a parachute rigger. After his tours, he returned home and worked with his father, a master boat builder, in California and Miami, Florida. He spoke often of his joy being present for every home game of the Miami Dolphins undefeated 1972 season. In 1992, Don moved to the Reno area where he worked as a dealer at the Club Cal-Neva, Comstock and finally Atlantis, retiring in 2005. In retirement he traveled many miles in his 1989 Chevy S-10, that he bought new and pampered with pride to his final days. He also built a 12 Ft sloop sailboat in his garage in Reno with specially selected materials he hand crafted.

"Papa Don" was married 4 times, first with his high school sweetheart and finally in 2016 after a "26 year, 4 month engagement." He was proud of his 3 sons, his stepson, 5 grandchildren and he was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first great grandson, who was born the day after his passing.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and his son, Bryan. He is survived by his wife, Lin Fairbanks Lansdon, his sons Aaron (Donna) and Christopher, step son, Lane Fairbanks and grandchildren Genevieve Coe, Zachary Coe, Logan Fairbanks, Baylee Fairbanks, great grandson, Kyler Bludall and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing will be held at Mountain View Mortuary at 9am on Friday, February 27, 2026; with a Graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery to follow. Friends are welcome to join the family at a celebration of Life following the service at MiCasa II on 4th and Stoker.
