Don Eversoll Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goes Funeral Care & Crematory - Fort Collins on Dec. 19, 2023.
Don Eversoll, 86, peacefully passed away surrounded by love and family on Friday December 15, 2023. Born to Allan and Margaret Eversoll of Grand Island, Nebraska. He is survived by his loving wife, Therese; children Christine Forseth, Steven Eversoll, and Kathleen Hobert; grandchildren Jakob Hobert, Michael Hobert, Taylor Wandas, Annie Forseth, and Alex Forseth; and siblings Duane Eversoll and Carol Mueller. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Bob, Jane, and Jim. Don and Therese celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past October.
Don was a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying journalism, and public relations, and botany. He soon applied his skills and talents to jobs as a sportswriter, associate editor, photographer, public relations director, and journalist. Yearning for a life closer to his beloved Rocky Mountains, he led the family in moving to Colorado in 1976. Later, Don was widely successful as an entrepreneur of multiple business including a clock business, and wildflower seed company, as well as an author and lecturer. Beyond work, he really thrived in many volunteer capacities such as lecturing at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, volunteering with Rotary Club, Poudre Valley Hospital, Poudre School District, and Good Samaritan Village, and announcing for Colorado State University Track and Field, just to name a few.
Don's truest passion, however, was in serving the Lord and enjoying family fun, especially fly fishing, wildflower photography, wood working, and various gardening and botanical endeavors that he loved to share with friends and strangers alike. In his children, he instilled the love of nature and appreciation of God's creations, taught how useful hands can be for massage therapy, kneading dough, mixing wildflower seeds, sowing a garden, and tying knots for fishing. He certainly led by example how to work hard, and find satisfaction in doing so, as there's never just one job to do, rather there are many ways to put one's talents to use.
A Rosary service will be held at 9:00 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m., December 22nd, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ft. Collins, Co.

I first met Don as a parent of one of my students, Katie. He was a great dad and became a good friend to everyone at Bennett Elementary School. He helped design the garden that was built between the buildings. His expertise was appreciated by everyone. I also knew him and Terri as we socialized with several mutual friends. We shared many laughs over the years. We both came from Nebraska so had that in common as well. My heart goes out to his family. I will remember his great smile and love of nature! Love, Janie Arnold

A smile comes to my face when I think of Don. I met him as a father to one of my students, Katie. He was always a wonderful father and became a good friend to those of us at Bennett Elementary School. He helped design the garden that was installed between the buildings. His expertise was appreciated very much. I also knew Don and Terri through a group of friends who socialized. We shared many laughs over the years. He and I were both from Nebraska, so we had similar backgrounds. I want to remember him with that big smile on his face. My heart goes out to the family.
Love, Janie Arnold
