Don E. Kemper, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on September 6, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, Don was known for his love for the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and shooting guns, valuing the time spent in nature. The Smoky Mountains held a special place in his heart, serving as his favorite escape to bask in the beauty of the wilderness. If not outdoors, Don could often be found watching his favorite YouTube videos or enjoying a game of poker.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Becky Kemper, and three children: Donna (Michael) Hacker, Brian (Elizabeth) Kemper, and Michael Kemper. Don was a proud grandfather to Kayla (Terry) Gilpin, Joshua (Kacey) Marshall, Zachary Hacker, Ciera Hacker, Brittany Kemper (Gage), Dylan (Carlie) Kemper, and Jared Kemper. In addition, he was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. Don is also survived by his sister, Barbara Thomas, who will carry the memories of their times together. His faithful dog, Jake, will miss him providing his daily cheeseburger.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred Kemper and Milley Embry Kemper, and his grandsons, Jesse Marshall, Matthew Marshall, and Dennis Kemper. He beat to his own drum and made up his own vocabulary. His poking, tickles, and mischievous humor will be missed.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow in accordance with Don's wishes.
