Mr. Don Koleski, 77, passed away on October 15, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Donald James Koleski was born on April 12, 1947, in San Diego, California, to the late Fred and DeRonda Provance Koleski. Don was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War and earning the Bronze Star. He was a self-employed overland truck driver for 20 years. He was an avid and accomplished woodworker. He enjoyed music festivals and volunteering at the North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic. He loved his animals, playing poker, and left-center-right. He married Linda Ray Koleski on April 10, 1977, in Memphis, Tennessee and together they shared 47 years.
Graveside services, with United States Army military honors, will be Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. from Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery near Eupora with his daughter, Brandi Koleski delivering the eulogy and family friend, Kay Hall delivering the prayer. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Linda Ray Koleski, affectionately known as Abby, of West Point: one daughter, Brandi Koleski (Chad) of Brighton, Tennessee: one son, Carlos Panthera of Phoenix, Arizona: five grandchildren, Cody Traylor (Lydia) of Cle Elum, Washington, Casey Traylor (Orion) of Pensacola, Florida, Carey Traylor of Ripley, Dakota Campos (Ernesto) of Fresno, California, and Nick Moore of Dalton, Georgia: four great-grandchildren, Andrew Moore of Dalton, Georgia, and Jazen, Nico, and Idris Campos of Fresno, California: Special Family, Betty Hamby (Eddie) of Hamilton, Bill and Michelle Miller of West Point, Curtis Miller of West Point, and Chase and Lydia Bateman of Columbus: Family-in-Love, Ray and Nina Gandy of Potts Camp, Mike and Gale McDonald of Potts Camp, W. R. and Beverly Gandy of Potts Camp, Mark and Beth Massey of Strayhorn, Kenny and Sara Brown of Potts Camp, Mark Reese of Oxford, Kevin Bradley of Olive Branch, and Tim and Pam Pumphrey of Mantachie.
Pallbearers will be Cody James Traylor, Casey Quay Traylor, Willilam Carey Traylor, Jason Griffin, David Traylor, and Chase Bateman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital- Golden Triangle, the Nurses and Staff of Centerwell Home Healthcare in Amory, and the Nurses and Staff of Fresenius Kidney Care in West Point.
Memorials may be made to West Point/Clay County Animal Shelter, 5122 Tibbee Road, West Point, Mississippi 39773 or to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1132 MLK, Jr. Drive, Eupora, Mississippi 39744.
