Mrs. Hazel McComic, 87, passed away on March 3, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Hazel was born on January 31, 1938, in Aberdeen, to the late Arnie and Lula Floyd Hardin. She and her husband, Mr. John Ed, owned and operated Foodland Grocery in West Point for over 50 years. She enjoyed going to work everyday and seeing all of her faithful customers. She enjoyed reading and watching T.V. She was an avid flower gardener. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She married John Ed McComic on June 13, 1958, and he predeceased her on October 20, 2015.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy D'Mello and two brothers, Charles and Bobby Hardin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eddie Longstreet officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela Williams (Joseph Gaston), two sons, Johnny McComic, Jr. (Debbie) and Charles Alan "Hoss" McComic, all of West Point: six grandchildren, Teri Lynn Thompson (James), Stacy Davis (Richard) Chad McComic, Jeremy Lee Williams, and Mona Elliott (Gus) all of West Point, and Dusty Miller (Johnny) of Hamilton: seven great-grandchildren, Madison Thompson, Kendal Davis, Caylon Thompson, Harrison McComic, and Mara Elliott, all of West Point and Aryah and Opie Miller of Hamilton: two sisters-in-law, Faye Greggs of Columbus, and Becky Hardin of Madison: one brother-in-law, Merv D'Mello of Hernando, Florida, one niece, Anita Brown of Mooreville, and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Thompson, Caylon Thompson, Richard Davis, Jeremy Williams, Chad McComic, and Johnny Miller.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Nurses and Staff North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, her many friends in the Lone Oak Community, and all of her loyal and faithful customers at Foodland.
