Donivan Turner Matherly,was born on October 30,1925 in Louisville, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2025. He was preceded in death by his bride, Anna Barton Matherly of 72 years. Don was a Navy veteran serving during WW2. He was employed by BF Goodrich for 22 years. Don left BF Goodrich to go into the ministry at Volunteers of America where he retired as the Director after 22 years of service. He was a member of Highview Baptist Church and an ordained minister. Don moved to Destin, Florida to reside under the loving care of his daughter and family. Don was affectionately known as a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one of love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His legacy of faith has strongly impacted our family. Those who knew Don enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humor. Don is survived by three children: Donna Gail Becker, Larry Matherly(Jennifer), and Gerald Matherly. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Larry "J" Becker, Jr., Loree Patzig( Brandon), Bart Matherly(Angela), Kristi Ragsdale(Jason), six great- grandchildren: Kaylen Cates(Sidney), Macie Matherly, Anna Matherly, Madison Ragsdale, Mariah Ragsdale, Presley Patzig and two great-great grandchildren: Easton Cates and Ryleigh Cates. Visitation will be held on July 8 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road. A Celebration of Life service will be a private service for the family following visitation.
