With deep love and gratitude for a life filled with faith, service, and craftsmanship, we announce the passing of Don May, who departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, May14, 2025 at the age of 78.
Born in 1946, Don was the cherished son of the late Leonard and Mildred May. He grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, and graduated from Bryan Station High School. From an early age, Don was known for his quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering integrity.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he embodied the values of honor, dedication, and service. His military experience deeply shaped his character and was a source of lasting pride throughout his life.
He was the devoted husband of Rita May. Together, they shared a beautiful life marked by deep love, shared faith, and joyful adventure. Don and Rita were true partners in every sense-working side by side on woodworking projects, traveling to new places, and showcasing their handcrafted creations at local craft shows. Their love for creating and exploring brought them even closer over the years.
Don was employed by IBM, and later Lexmark. He worked there for many years before retiring. Don worked on the line and later as a trainer. He found joy in helping educate others on the company and their products.
A talented woodworker, Don found peace and purpose in his craft. His work reflected not only his skill and patience but also his desire to bring beauty and usefulness into the lives of others.
Above all, Don was a man of deep faith. He served faithfully and humbly at the Versailles church of Christ. Don was always ready to lend his time, tools, and talents wherever there was a need. He lived out his beliefs with sincerity and quiet devotion, impacting many lives through his actions more than words. Don is survived by his loving wife Rita May, his mother Mildred May, and a host of family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Versailles church of Christ. A second hour of visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 20th, beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by funeral services that will be conducted at 12:30 p.m.
Following the service, Don will be laid to rest with military honors at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to his faithful service to his country. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and leave messages of condolence on Don's tribute wall.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:21
