Don L. Mulder, age 82, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
Don was born October 13, 1942 in Beaver Dam, the son of Louis and Mabel Beek Mulder. Don was a graduate of Waupun High School in 1961. Following high school he attended University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for a year. Don was employed at Central State Hospital and later Dodge Correctional Institution from which he retired.
Don married Nancy Crow and later in life married Judy Zeitlow, and the couple resided in Fond du Lac all their married lives. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Club. He was instrumental in helping out with Waupun Youth Hockey and establishing the Figure Skating Program. He always said..”Remember..it’s for the kids.”
Don was in the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame, a long-time board member of the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association, elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame as president, a long-time member of USA Hockey, and Vice President of USA Hockey Adult Council. Don was instrumental in starting Pond Hockey in Eagle River, WI. Don's passion was hockey until the day of his passing.
Don is survived by his wife, Judy Mulder of Fond du Lac; four children: Amy (Paul) Loomans of Waupun, David Mulder (fiancee, Michelle Engebretson) of Fond du Lac, Matt (Nicole) Mulder of Oshkosh, and Mary Mulder (fiance, Josh Nowicki) of Waupun; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Michelle Trehey of Tennessee; sister; Donna Kastein of Rosendale; and two nephews: Douglas and Daniel (Trisha) Kastein of Waupun.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mabel Mulder, and brother-in-law, Donald Kastein.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 4 P.M at the Waupun Ice Rink. Family and Friends can call on the family during a visitation, which will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Waupun Ice Rink from 2-4 p.m.
Memorials can be directed to the Waupun Hockey Association for the floor project.
