Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late William T. and Hazel Rainey.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rainey is survived by four daughters: Donna M. Williamson, Shyra L. Rainey, Paula Rainey Benson (Barndt), and Heather M. Diliberto; a brother, Kenneth R. Rainey; a sister, Carolyn A. Rainey; four grandchildren: Jacob D. Williamson (Reid), Ethin B. Benson, Holly Erin Benson, and Thomas Gray Benson; and two great-grandchildren: Wren Williamson and Rhodes Williamson.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 10th from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Mountain Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m.
