Obituary published on Legacy.com by White Family Funeral Home on Feb. 12, 2026.
Don Gaylon Sills, 69 of Bowie, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, in Decatur, Texas.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 13th, at Brushy Cemetery in Bowie, with Bro. Mark Roberts officiating.

Don was born November 1st, 1956, in Bowie, TX to Weldon Bailey "W.B." and Mabel Marie (Slade) Sills, and grew up in the Forestburg area. Throughout his life he worked in the furniture industry, it was there that he met his future wife, Amelia. Don and Amelia were married in Dumas, Texas in August 1977, and moved to Bowie where they were residents for 45 years. The couple enjoyed spending time together and going out for Mexican food. Don worked for Richardson Furniture Store and later did some yard work.

He will be remembered as a faithful husband, taking care of Amelia for years while she fought diabetes and kidney failure. While she was in the hospital, Don stayed right by her side, 24 hours a day, until her passing on February 2nd. On February 11th, Don passed away from a broken heart after a series of heart attacks the day before.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his maternal grandparents, Tom and Viola Slade; and his beloved wife of 48 years, Amelia Sills.

Don is survived by his sister, Janet Sills Havenhill and husband Max of Fort Worth, TX; 2 nieces, Michelle Cordero of McKinney, TX and Nicole Jeanes of John Island, SC; and 9 great-nephews and nieces.
