Donald Dwight “Don” Stinnette, age 86, of Bessemer City, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1939, in Gaston County. Don was a 1957 Graduate of Ashley High School. He was a retired truck driver of 32 and a half years with Consolidated Freight Way. Don was a devoted member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church where he served many years as a Deacon, on the cemetery committee, building and grounds committee, as an usher, Sunday School Director, and as the church treasurer. He enjoyed bowling, traveling to the mountains, and was a hard worker. Don was a loving husband, father, Paw-Paw, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dixie Knight Stinnette; son, Steven Dean Stinnette; brothers, Dewey Clyde Stinnette, Rufus B. Smallwood, and Mark F. Smallwood; and sisters, Bonnie Roberts, and Betty Wright.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Wilma Dean Stinnette; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Mark Stinnette and wife, Michelle, Thomas Allen Stinnette and wife, Dena, and Wendy Stinnette; grandchildren, Janna Louise Stinnette, Jessica Michelle Stinnette, Kristen Stinnette, Katherine Elizabeth Williams, Benjamin Eric Stinnette, Maggie Stinnette, and Calee Jolley; great-grandchildren, Hank Teague, Dixie Turner, Jada Stinnette, Johnothan Stinnette, Wyatt Sorenson, Parker Bridges, Blaine Bridges, Turner Williams, and Stevie Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Austin and Rev. Dennis Hester officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church.
