Don Sumner
ENOREE- Arthur Donald "Don" Sumner, 91, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, May 1, 2023, at Upstate Community Hospice House.
He was born April 20, 1932, in Spartanburg County to the late Russell and Pearl Waddell Sumner and was the widower of Betty Yarborough Sumner who passed away November 6, 2021. He was a graduate of the Presbyterian College and attended Spartanburg Methodist College. He was a retired Loan Appraiser with Woodruff Federal Savings & Loan and was a former principal with District Four Schools and had served on the District Four School Board. Don was a member of Enoree First Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years and served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving is one daughter, Rhonda Sumner of Enoree; 3 grandchildren, Alyssa Billings, Deanna Lindsey (Austin) and Rhett Billings; one great-grandson, Bradon Cothran.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Andy Moore, Rev. Jimmy Farmer and Mr. David Morris followed by a Celebration of Life immediately following the funeral service at Enoree First Baptist Church. A private interment will be at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Agape Hospice, 516 East Main Street, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302
