Don was born on January 27, 1932 in Crichton, Alabama - a suburb of Mobile, and was raised in Loxley. He married the love of his life, Rose Lunsford, and to their union, two daughters were born. Don honorably served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Taylor during the Korean Conflict. For many years, he drove a truck for Central Freight Lines and Gulf Oil Corp. Later, he owned an upholstery shop. Don served as the Secretary of the Scottish Rite in Meridian and was a 33rd Degree Mason. He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Mediator. Don was an avid Alabama Fan - "Roll Tide!"

Survivors include his two daughters, Donna Key (Roger) and Kathi Hofer (Bill) of Whidbey Island, Washington; granddaughters, Lacy Key (Sal Blandino) of Ashville, NC, and Lindsey Fair (Ryan) of Vermilion, Ohio; grandsons, Chris Hofer (Elizabeth) of Bumpass, Virginia and Brandon Hofer (Cherelle) of Redding, California; great grandchildren, Presley Rose and Jacob, Sawyer Mae, and Liam Hofer and Jackson Wade and Samuel Jon Fair; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Rose Mae Lunsford Wade, parents, Arthur Garland and Anna Gertrude Pollitt Wade; and six siblings, Joe Wade, Arthur Wade, Pearl Roddy, Anna Archer, Madge Byrd, and Betty Parker.

Mr. Wade's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living as well as to the nurses and staff of Halcyon Hospice Care, especially Chrissy Baysinger and Balencigia McLendon, for their exceptional care.
